Children’s Sports Day
On November 9th, 2024, we launched the first of our five-session Children’s Sports Day series! To kick things off, we gathered about 40 enthusiastic kids aged 7 to 14 years and hosted them at both a Futsal Court and an Event Hall. Our goal was to create an enjoyable and dynamic environment, blending teamwork with a bit of friendly competition.
Dividing the Fun
We split the children into two groups to make the most of the two spaces. Group A started with an exciting Futsal game, while Group B jumped into some fun telematch games.
For Futsal, we originally set up a 5-a-side game with the rest on standby as substitutes. However, it didn’t take long for all the kids to join in, turning the game into an adorable frenzy of teamwork and laughter. Watching the older children look out for the younger ones was heartwarming. There were many moments when an older sibling or friend would stand protectively in front of a little one, shielding them from the “crowd rush” as everyone raced toward the ball. It was a sweet reminder of the natural camaraderie and care children can have for each other.
Telematch Challenges
In the telematch games, the children faced two unique challenges:
- Pass the Ball Using Only Your Legs: This game required them to maneuver a ball along a line using only their legs—an exercise in creativity and cooperation! The winning team scored 3 points, while the other team earned 1 point. It was so amusing to watch them come up with clever tricks to make the task easier. Although we had to reel in some of the more “creative” strategies for fairness, their innovation truly impressed us.
- Spoon and Tennis Ball Relay: In this game, the children had to balance a tennis ball on a spoon, bounce it off a table, and try to land it in a cup. For added excitement, we introduced a bonus round where every successfully landed tennis ball earned an extra point. This challenge encouraged focus, skill, and patience, with kids eagerly collaborating on the best way to land that winning shot!
Going Above and Beyond
Our team wanted to make the day extra special, so we included additional amenities that weren’t initially part of the plan. Here’s a quick rundown of what we provided:
Essentials We Prepared:
- Two-way bus transportation
- Meals for all 40 kids
- Two coaches to supervise and guide the games
Extras We Added for a Special Touch:
- Increased coaching support with five coaches
- Juices and snacks as rewards
- Bottled water for anyone who forgot to bring their own hydration
Reflecting on the Day
The children’s energy and laughter made the day unforgettable. It was a joy to see them bond, help each other, and unleash their creativity through the games. Each session was a reminder of the importance of teamwork, resilience, and most importantly, having fun!
With the first day a success, we’re eagerly looking forward to the next four sessions in this series, where we’ll continue to encourage teamwork, play, and learning for each child.
